Well, it has been on our list of things to do for some time, but it has taken until today to have it running.
All Internet traffic is channeled between two computers - the client (you) and the server (the site you are asking for). Computers love to use numbers to identify things, much like phone numbers, so when you ask for a page from www.ninemsn.com.au, you are really asking for a page on 188.8.131.52.
We use domain names, or www.mycompany.com.au, to associate easy to remember names with long, tricky to remember strings of numbers.
In one of the "don't you wish you knew about it when it was all starting out" things, there are companies which register these domain names and maintain the huge tables of name/number pairs.
However, these companies are often hard to find, and they ask a lot of technical questions, which means domain name registration is a little out of reach for most people.
That is not the case any more. Internetrix have now introducted a new system for checking and registering the domain names, where we do all of the hard work for you.
Simply log on to any part of our site, or through our e-business system, and you can check the registration status of six types of popular domain names. If they are not taken yet, you can put in a request for us to register the name for you, for only $199+GST, once off. This leases your domain name for two years from the domain name registering bodies, and sets your domain name up on our servers ready to handle requests.
Feel free to log in and check if your next domain name is taken yet, and get there before someone else does!
