WollongongOnline (www.wollongongonline.com) is a community web service developed by Internetrix, and managed by Empower and the DMW group in a collaborative project.
The concept for the site is simple - the links in the website, similar to Yahoo!, are there to make it easy for the people of Wollongong and surrounds to find what they want on the internet. As with Yahoo!, site visitors can add their own links to the site. The site is based on membership, and members are rewarded through the opportunity to enter competitions for great prizes - free.
The website is designed to be much more than a portal site (of which there are already many available), and is designed to be a relationship building tool, to give enhanced value to site members by letting them know about deals, prizes and more via occassional email dispatches.
With a steady first few weeks, this site is expected to grow over time. You can also still enter the online competition from innovation week to win one of a hundred family passes to the IMAX theatre, the Powerhouse Museum or the Wollongong Science Centre - just log on to WollongongOnline to win.
